What is MCP?

Your AI assistant, now connected to F1 data

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI agents securely access external tools and data sources. Fastlytics provides an MCP server that gives any compatible AI client access to 29 typed F1 data tools — from live telemetry traces to historical championships.

Get Started

Three steps to connect your AI

01

Get your API key

Create a free API key from your Fastlytics settings. Free tier gives you 300 calls/month.

02

Install the package

The server runs on Node.js 22+. Install globally or run directly with npx.

npm install -g fastlytics-mcp
03

Configure your client

Add the config to your AI client. Follow the guides below for Claude, Cursor, VS Code, and more.

Setup Guides

Choose your platform & transport

Each platform supports two modes: Local (runs the MCP server on your machine) and Remote (connects to the hosted endpoint at https://mcp.fastlytics.app/mcp). Claude Desktop installs a one-click extension; Claude Code runs the npm package directly.

Claude AI

Claude Desktop

Installed via the .mcpb extension

Download for Claude Desktopfastlytics-1.2.1.mcpb · 3.8 MB
# Claude Desktop installs this as an extension.
#
# 1. Close Claude Desktop completely (check the system tray)
# 2. Double-click fastlytics-1.2.1.mcpb, or drag it into
#    Settings -> Extensions
# 3. Paste your API key from
#    https://fastlytics.app/settings?section=api-keys
# 4. Relaunch Claude Desktop
#
# No Node.js and no terminal needed — Claude Desktop ships its own runtime.

The recommended path for Claude Desktop. The extension bundles the server and its dependencies, and Claude Desktop handles updating it.

Close Claude Desktop, then double-click the downloaded file (or drag it into Settings → Extensions). Paste your Fastlytics API key when prompted — it is stored in your OS keychain, not a config file.

.mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "fastlytics": {

      "env": {
        "FASTLYTICS_MCP_API_KEY": "fl_mcp_..."
      }
    }
  }
}

Run `claude mcp add` from your project directory, or add this to .mcp.json by hand. Claude Code runs the npm package directly, so there is no bundle to install.

Cursor

Cursor

.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "fastlytics": {
      "command": "npx",

      }
    }
  }
}

Add this to .windsurf/mcp.json, replace the API key, then restart Windsurf.

Prefer an interactive setup? Run npx -y fastlytics-mcp without an API key set to launch the setup wizard.
